Artist's Comments
Found this little guy at the beach. I think it is a Monarch butterfly, or at least some form of it.
EDIT: Thanks to Martin I now know this is a Painted Lady butterfly. Thanks! You're right.
I think that's a Painted Lady (Vanessa Cardui). They used to be common in my country. My grandfather once told me its name when I was a little child, but I couldn't remember the name so I went through a data-base of hundreds of butterflies, and I think it's a Painted Lady.
Anyway, I think it's a wonderful capture and the flowers look great with the beautiful patern on the butterfly. I think the focus is not perfect though. The sides of the wings are blurry which is unfortunate. Still a great shot though!
You're right! I corrected the info. It is a Painted Lady. Thanks! I don't know if it's the lens or what, but when you're taking these kind of macro shots there's always some part that's going to be blurry. The camera won't focus on more than one point of interest. I don't have a macro lens. I used a 55-200mm lens, but I would like to get a real macro one sometime soon. They're just a bit pricy.

Thank you very much! This guy was really cooperating with me. I had the chance to take several photos, but I liked this one the best. Thanks to I now know this is a "Painted Lady" butterfly. The Monarch butterfly does look similar, but definitely has some distinct differences.

Turned the stone and looked beneath it
